You have just entered the side path in which I discuss my influences in developing SkyVillage; that is, those folks that I wish to acknowledge for having contributed to my thinking and learning as I put this thing together.

Coaching, my friends. This is coaching. And good coaching concerns itself with two things: movement, and direction.

I like to use the analogy of a car. If you are using a car, then, in order to get where you are going, you need two things. You need a car that moves, and you need a direction in which to drive. You can't get anywhere without movement and direction. One isn't much good without the other.

Much of the coaching out there in the world concerns itself with one of these two things, but ignores the other.

The trouble is, providing direction without movement is futile. You want to go somewhere, but you just spin your wheels.

On the other hand, providing movement without direction is dangerous. You get moving, but you run yourself off the edge of a cliff, or into the wilderness. OK, I'm indulging in metaphor, but still, no kidding.

The coaching that I have developed in SkyVillage concerns itself with both movement and direction. I have not made a point of identifying and distinguishing these two components in the coaching that I am offering here. For the most part, these two components are offered as an undivided, unified whole. Nevertheless, they are distinguishable, and if you keep your eyes open, you'll see what I mean.

An enormous amount of the coaching that I have developed herein is based on my own experiences and observations. I am in my 60's as I type this, I am smart, observant, talented, and devoted, I care about people, and I've been through a lot. I'm the right guy for this job.

I've studied a fair amount of various spiritual and coaching disciplines, as well.

But, bottom line, I've relied on two principal sources for the "movement" component of this coaching, and one principal source for the "direction" component.

The first of the two principal sources on which I have relied in order to develop the movement component of this coaching is a man named Martin Heidegger. The second of the two principal sources is a man named Werner Erhard.

The single principal source upon which I have relied to develop the direction component of this coaching is the teachings of Jesus Christ.

But there has been another major influence in the development of this website, in this case less specific, but still very important and empowering, and that is, the various forms of artistic expression that I have encountered over the course of my life.

I'll talk about each of these four influences in the pages that follow.
